How Fast is fiber Internet?
Typical speeds on the fiber network are in excess of 3 Mbps.
Is Fiber Faster Than DSL?
Yes, Fiber is faster than DSL. Fiber speeds in excess of 3 Mbps compared to the 1.5 Mbps max on DSL
Where is it Available?
Fiber is available only in select areas of Grant County. Call for details!!
How Do I Know if Fiber is Available in My Area
Call our local DONOBi office at 509-764-8025 and we will inform you if it is available in your area, or you can call the PUD fiber customer care at 509-754-6632.
I Just Moved into a Place That Has Fiber What Do I Need to Do to Have it Connected?
You will need to fill out a ZIPP Fiber application and setup an account with DONOBi. The application can be done over the phone or in person at our Moses Lake office.
What do I need to get Fiber Internet?
You will need a computer with a network card, a CAT5 cable from the gateway to your computer, and fiber available at your home.
Where Can I Get a CAT5 Cable?
We here at DONOBi can install the cable for you, or you can buy the cable at a local retailer and do it yourself.
How Do I Get My Computer Setup for Fiber Internet?
You can bring it into our local office and we will set it up for Internet at no cost, or you can call us and we will help you setup your PC over the phone.
I’m Getting a “Cable-Disconnected” Error, What Can I Do?
Make sure the cable is inserted securely into the back of your computer, and the wall. You can also try removing the plug and reinserting it into the computer and the wall.

How much does Mason County Fiber cost?
Residential $39.95 Business $30.00 plus bandwidth usage There is also a set-up fee of $274.99 (normally $400.00)
Do I need any special equipment?
No, however Mason County PUD needs to install a gateway box to the external of the building. It is then up to the client to install from the gateway box. The clients can do the install themselves or have DONOBi professionally install.
What kind of speed can I expect?
100Mbps
Can I have multiple computers connected?
DONOBi supports a single point of access; you can network computers through a router to support multiple connections. DONOBi’s technical support can assist in ensuring 1 computer is able to connect while DONOBi’s Networking service can provide support for networked computers.

How many email addresses can I have with a fiber optic connection?
Each Internet point of access is entitled to 5 email addresses. DONOBi’s technical support staff can assist in creating and setting up additional email address.
Do I need a firewall with fiber optic Internet?
DONOBi recommends all high-speed access customers maintain a firewall of one form or another. Windows XP SP2 has a built in firewall and routers also provide a hardware firewall. Other reputable firewall programs consist of Black Ice or Zone Alarm. See DONOBi’s FAQ with regards to firewalls for more information.
Can DONOBi provide routers for multiple computer connections?
Yes, as part of the set-up fee, DONOBi includes a 4-port router with a firewall installed. |
